Psalm 94

Let's go :)
verse 1: "O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself."
Slovenian Standard translation (2007) had completely changed the meaning of this verse (as well as the meaning of many other verses too). In there it is written "God of vengeance, o LORD, God of vengeance, show yourself. ("Bog maščevanja, o GOSPOD, Bog maščevanja, pokaži se!") What is the difference between God, to whom vengeance belongeth and God of vengeance? It is a subtle one but very crucial. Remember - snake was the most subtle creature (Gen 3:1). LORD, God is not a god of vengeance, but is a god, the God, to whom vengeance belongeth. If he would be a god of vengeance, he would empower Christians to avenge themselves - if someone would smite them on their right cheek, they would smite him back or even better - since the attack is the best defense - so the world says and not the Bible - they would smite or kill him even before one would get an opportunity to smite them - just to be sure... But that is not what Christians are told to do. If someone smites me on one cheek, I should offer him also the other. Why? Because God is the best defense :) Why? Because God is he, to whom vengeance belongeth - Jesus is the Shepherd, he takes care for sheep and not sheep themselves... He destroys - as David did - lions and bears... And this is the way, which leads to peace... Not to avenge ourselves, but to cry to God. If someone spits on you, if someone hurts you or your body - be it with words or physically - even tortures you - you, as a Christian has such a tremendous power, which prevents you to become the same as he is - you don't hate him, but you are even able to bless him...

This huge corruption in this Psalm, this blasphemy hurt me a lot - translators prevent people to come to the real God, the real solution and to love him - and so I have cried to the LORD - I wanted to put this Psalm to music and I guess, he had heard me...

verse 2: "Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud."
Once again - he is the judge, who has the power to execute the judgment and not we. And what is this reward, the proud will get? Is it something good? No, not really. God resisteth the proud... (Jam 4:6, 1Pe 5:5...) To be proud, means to have a good self-esteem... You esteem yourself. And this is the religion of today - you connect yourself with yourself... No wonder, that people are more or less alone... It is you, who sets price of your own life - and no matter, how much you esteem yourself - the price you have set to your life is too small in one sense and much too great on the other hand. You can value your life according to your body and talents you have, pleasures you can get out from your body, money... you try to be a god... and such esteem is much too low - because soul of each and every human (man and woman, white, black, yellow, red...) is worth more than the whole world... This is how the real God esteems human life - soul (Mt 16:26).

And on the other hand - a proud person sets his price too high - how come? Because to be great, to have a good self-esteem, you have to be better than others are... You have to lift yourself above the others, you have to be something special. If people agree with that, they will let you do that and you will be worshiped as the God should be worshiped. You will be a great hunter in front of God as Nimrod was. You will hunt people and prevent many people to come to God. You will be a false god, an idol... And if people don't agree, that you are more special than they are - well, then they will try to hurt you. But that doesn't mean, they are not prepared to hurt even their own idols...

So, basically a proud person esteems him-her self the most and a Christian esteems the Lord the most. A proud person gives the glory to himself, to a man (woman), a Christian gives glory to the Lord. A proud person tries to do something, what God does - a proud person wants to set a price to a human life and soul... A proud person tries and wants to be God! And people, who base their worth on proudness, cannot ever never live in a real peace, because there is always struggle between them - who will be the greatest - but with the Lord's children it is not so. They don't need to struggle between themselves. They don't need to compete with others, they don't need to defeat others - but they are happy if others are doing better than they themselves. This is the way, which leads toward peace and Jesus is the way and Jesus is the prince of peace...

verse 3: "LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?"
All proud people are wicked, but all wicked are not proud... but nevertheless - they compete, they destroy others, they are aggressive... and because of that it seems, that they are doing just fine, they triumph... for now... until the Lord will return.

verse 4: "How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?"
In pretty much every movie God and in many cases Jesus Christ is being cursed... And jokes about others? Listen to yourself... I liked "normal" "jokes", but now I find them too aggressive, too humiliating... but that doesn't mean, that I don't smile, that I am not happy - only my humor had changed, that's all. And here we see once again - they boast themselves - they are proud.

verse 5: "They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage."
That's what people, beasts without God do... I was the same... I hurt people...

verse 6: "They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless."
Nationalism is basically hatred toward "others". If you pledge allegiance to nationalism, you would like to hurt or even to slay all the "others". Why? So that you could live a "better" life. You would have more money, food, "pleasures". That is going on today. And for the same reason we are also killing many babies and we do that with a tax collected money. Those babies don't have the father to protect them... And if someone doesn't have a father, he is usually not so rich and who loves him? What can you get from such a person? Nothing, and so the world hates such people. The world esteems money and all the pleasures, which money can buy... But there are nicer things to be gained... I didn't believe it, but it is true :)
I wanted to show you, that this verse doesn't speak about some people, who lived way back in the past, but that is speaks about us!
And just a thought: the harlot's love (the counterfeit or the real love) is saying: "What is there for me? What do I get?" And the real love is saying: "What is there for you? What can I give you?"

verse 7: "Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it."
That is so typical. God doesn't exist, people tend to say. The police will not catch me, the judge will not judge me, because they are not capable or because they don't even exist... The LORD sees and he exists and he has the power to execute the judgment... But if he would punish us for each and every sin, we all would be dead a long time ago. But since he is merciful and patient and because of his mercy, here and there someone comes to the Lord and to such a person a new heart and new mind is given (and eternal life).

verse 8: "Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?"
People without the real God, people, whose god is a god of vengeance, are brutish and not smart. We could even say, they live in a lie... Their father is the father of lies, of flies... They might be intelligent - they know, how to trick people and how to manipulate them and get from them, whatever they like, but they don't use intelligence to seek God, because if they would seek him, they would find him. I was the same - running all my life away from the LORD... He had found me and maybe he will find you through me...
Such people try to seek their own will and not the will of God. They pray: "My will be done." Christians pray: "Thy will be done."

verse 9: "He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?"
Just interesting thing to notice: Evolutionary explanation of the origins of the eye practically doesn't exist. How did the eye evolve? Scientists have huge, huge problems to figure that out... Why? Because it didn't happen the way they imagine.

verse 10: "He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?"
Now, Jews were thinking, that God will not judge, correct them, because they are his, aren't they? And in similar manner, many so called Christians think the same. They are not afraid of the judgment. God will not judge us, they think proudly - because we are holy, we are special, WE ARE and god is... If you are proud, you will be judged...

verse 11: "The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity."
Read the Ecclesiastes and you will know, what vanity is. People know, that they will die, but they don't bother to search the answers to the most important question: what will happen to us, when our body will stop working? It is so, so easy to get the right answer to that question, but people don't want to get it. Some people just believe lying miracles, lying proofs, opinions... Who wants to know?! As Salomon had said in Ecclesiastes 12:13: "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." And in Proverbs (Pro 1:7) we read: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

verse 12:"Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;"
If you do something wrong - what do you prefer - to be warned immediately, as soon as possible, to receive some reaction (to be chastised by the LORD) or do you prefer not to be warned at all and to find out at the end, that you were wrong all the time...
As far as I remember, there is some disease - people, who have it, they cannot sense the heat - of the water, let's say. They are not warned by their body, if the water is too hot and because of that, their skin can be easily severely burned... So, it is always good to be warned about dangers as soon as possible... And similar thing this verse is saying. And how do we know, what is good for us and what bad? His law tells us that...

verse 13: "That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked."
Such a person was warned and he will not perish...

verse 14: "For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance."
That is true, but are you his? His people at least at the beginning fear him - when you realize, who you are and who God is - and then you receive his mercy and the seed of love is sown into you and it grows... and there is less and less fear in you... but there is never proudness in you...
But on the other hand, there were some Jews, who were proud - oh, we are God's children - and today so called Christians are saying the same thing - oh, we are God's children... But what did Jesus say to those Jews? John 8:44: "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." And he is saying that also to millions of "Christians", but they don't care, because the "know", that they are of God. (Well, they think, that they know... They don't know the truth, they live in a lie - and they should acknowledge that and repent, to be afraid of him, to turn to him and ask him for forgiveness...)

verse 16: "Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?"
Well, it is Jesus, the Word of God. He was on the cross - (he was raised), he was raised from the dead, he went into heavens and he will come back and destroy all those, who love evil, as it is described in the Book of Revelation. And today? Well, the Word of God, the Bible is also destroying the evildoers - his word destroyed evildoers, as I was and still am to a certain degree... and as it was the case with each and every Christian - I know, that when my body will stop working, the evil in me will be completely destroyed.

verse 17: "Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence."
This was true for David, even for us - for me too - I could be dead already several times... But this is especially true for Jesus Christ. How many times did people try to kill him... and the LORD saved him. And at the end, they have finally managed to destroy his body - but the LORD saved him :)

verse 18: "When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up."
Proud person cannot accept mercy, he wants to earn everything, even love. But the God's plan is not such. Mercy is not deserved - but given to someone, who does not deserve it - and such was each and every Christian and praised be the Lord, me too. The Gospel is telling us about his mercy and love and this is what fuels us - not money, not pleasures, which can be bought by money, not praises of men and women...
And of course, this verse is relevant also to Jesus Christ... Jesus Christ trusted the Father and not himself...

verse 19: "In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul."

verse 20: "Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?"
This reminds me of Paul's letter to Corinthians (1 Co 10: 21): "Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils." But today a new religion is in the hearts of men and women, Babylonian one - all gods are ok and we have to fellowship with each other... That is a lying way, which doesn't lead to peace, as people think, but to destruction. The real way, which leads to peace, is Jesus Christ. When one accepts his gospel, he or she is changed. He, she loves all people, no matter of their sex, sexual orientation, color of skin, age, intelligence, beauty, position in a society, no matter what kind of religion are they following... you love them - but you don't fellowship with them. You try to warn them and show them the truth as gentle as you can...
And another thought, which I have about this verse, is also about us. If we love lie and sin and we are not prepared to renounce it - well, then we don't have fellowship with the real Christians nor with Jesus Christ, who is the truth. We can only lie to ourselves, that we have...

verse 21: "They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood."
Well, they did that to Jesus, but people of today (we - as humankind, you, the world) are doing that to everyone, who is righteous. "If you don't lie, you die" people say. "I cannot live without lie," they also say. But righteous person, as far as I understand, says: "I rather die, than lie," and "I cannot live with lie." If you work in some company - try not to lie... what kind of career will you make... ask yourself... Ask yourself, what do you feel toward a person, who is not prepared to lie for you and to "save" you in such a way... Are you getting the picture? To the world - lie is their saviour, to a Christian - the truth, Jesus Christ is the Saviour. And those two ideas are not compatible. The first one is aggressive, the second one is not...

verse 22: "But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge."
:) The LORD is my defence - not my body, not my intelligence, not my strength, not "my" family, not my "country", not humankind, not idols, not lie, not evil - but the LORD is my defence. I trust in him and not in myself.

We teach our children to have faith in themselves and not in God.

verse 23: "And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off."
Interesting thing to notice here is - that the Lord will bring upon such people their own iniquity... Climate changes, pollution, we (as the world) are propagating all kinds of violent behaviors... What are you doing to your children!!! Do they respect you? You don't know the way of peace and respect... I didn't know the way of peace - but that way exists... seek it and you will find it. That is also my wish and advice...
