This Psalm has a similar message as the Psalm 98 has.
verse 2: "Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day."
That's what I try to do :) but before coming to the Lord, I didn't sing unto him but unto girls and later unto the Devil - well, I didn't know he was the Devil, since he has many names... and I didn't bless the LORD, but did curse him and I didn't understand what his salvation is all about... I've thought that Christianity is... nonsense - without power... lying... I couldn't be more wrong.
verse 3: "Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people."
The Bible warns us about lying wonders, which will precede revealing of the man of sin...
We are warned not to go after those lying wonders, we are warned, that falling away from the faith will take place and today? People don't have faith in the word of God, they call themselves Christians and a major part of them are declaring - not wonders of the God, which are written in the Bible, but lying wonders of the Devil... They worship the wrong guy...
verse 4: "For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods."
The Lord is great - why should I fear anyone - except him? As long as I am in this body, I can go against him and I go against him... but less and less... I fear him and I love him, because he forgave me and didn't reject me, he saved me from the greatest darkness of them all... And the more you love Him, the more you love people too, since people are made in his image. The image in people is corrupted to some extent, but nevertheless - you bless people... you even pray for those, who hate you... such is the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
verse 5: "For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens."
People attack the Bible in many ways. Some people are claiming to be Christians but how do they hate Paul! They say that Paul's letters should not be part of the Bible. Some even say, that the four Gospels were changed... Well, do they have any proof for that? Not really. The Old testament and the new are in perfect agreement. And remember - the Lord is great, powerful - he can preserve his word... god, who is not able to preserve his word, is either powerless or lying (or both), but the Lord is powerful and he is the truth.
So, Paul is saying in 1Co 8:4-6:
"As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him."
The same message, and what are those gods and lords and idols?
1Co 10:20: "But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils."
Idols, the devils cannot really help you... you might love them - but they don't care for, about you... They might give you some signs and wonders in order to believe them or to believe, have faith even in yourself... but when your body will stop working - what will happen to you then? Who can take care for your soul? You, yourself? Your idols, devils? I would not count on such a pathetic "help"...
verse 8: "...bring an offering, and come into his courts."
Peter is saying the same thing (1Pe 2:5): "Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ." What are those sacrifices? Are those sacrifices some kind of "holy" rituals, like for example Catholic mess, mass? No. We follow Jesus, who sacrificed himself for us - and because of that, we are able to sacrifice our bodies, our thoughts, our time... to God, the Father and to people. We don't live for ourselves anymore - we don't belong to ourselves anymore... As Paul is saying in 1Co 6:20: "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
verse 9: "O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth."
is telling us the same thing. The Lord is to be worshiped in the beauty of holiness... Christians are being sanctified by God, so that they are made holier and holier... and the rest of the world? They are becoming more unholy, more unloving, more bitter, more crazy, more corrupt, more evil... I was on that train and praised be the Lord, I am not any more... That way, which leads into destruction, is not nice at all...
verse 13: "...for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth."
He will judge the people with his truth and not with ours or yours... and people don't like that... They know, that "their" truth is a plain and simple lie... His truth is the only truth.
And when he will come, all the creation will rejoice - even the trees, as the verse 12 is telling us - only the devils in a coalition with "good" people, will not like that. Only "good" people, who worship idols, gods, lies will hate that...
